I couldn't see the clip, but I have the DVD of the show. I thought it was hilarious. It's almost sad to say but the Chappelle show was a guilty pleasure for me. I didn't like it at first because of the language, but my husband loved it and eventually I fell into it also. I never realized how funny Charlie Murphy was also. My other favorite was his true hollywood story about him and Rick James.
This clip had me cracking up. I was choking on "Do you want me to soft-shoe for you?" & " Get your MuthaF***in' hands off me Frank!" I Thank you for the laugh and the link ;) I've added your link to my Blogroll as well.
Ahhh, IMP (In Me Power lol!!!) ..... juskidding, Peace
I couldn't see the clip, but from nic's comment I know which one it is...and guess what...lol, I was watching that season dvd last night and that was actually my last episode before going to sleep....LOL and I SURE don't have to tell you AGAIN how much I love Dave and HE LOVES ME... WE ARE ONE. LOL.
DC thanks for posting that. I have long felt that lot of our behavior was just exagerated motions to conform with the indsidious ideal of what has become supposedly black persona or attitude.
Black america is now hurting from the affects of us keeping it real and not turning in goons that terrorize our communities or taking education seriously. Thank you for posting that clip DC. Peace
I have to admit, I at first was not into Dave then I saw the first season, I literally tried to watch the whole season on DVD in one day. don't like the R. Kelly pee on u part. I do like Tyrone.
I never realized how intelligent he was until I saw him on Oprah. If I had paid attention to the media, I would have thought he was an uneduated comic acting crazy. I know preconceived notions.
shai: I immediately saw him attack issues relating to racism and societal woes. To use comedy in such a way to show outlandish methodologies makes him a genius in my book. Though some of the skits are over the top to me....the messages to me raise the way I think without the media trying to force me what to think.
@hamil10: Charlie was obviously an under-served talent in the Murphy family. Thank goodness he got to shine on Chappelle's Show.
@Shai: Chappelle is one of the most intelligent, introspective, socially-aware and daring comics working today. He is a highly-intuitive and reflective guy. It's a good thing you got to see him on Oprah, because to dismiss him as being an uneducated comic would have definitely been a disservice to him and you. RE comics in general---and I know several---they are often some of the most intelligent, hyper-sensitive, ultra-observant people amongst us. They may come up with "shticks" that seem far below the intellect they're packing, but it's usually a well-calculated persona. Many were nerds growing up, took on a funny persona to get by without getting their asses kicked, or did it as a way to garner attention. Every comic I know is well-read and highly-literate...and a bit of a self-absorbed asshole (yeah you, Cort!! love ya!!). Chappelle, however, is incredibly nice and understated, almost shy, when you meet him.
@Justmewriting: Whatup, girl! Still laughing at some of your words from yesterday.
hey Lo: lol...girl please...just don't try to kill me today (I almost chocked on the popcorn yesterday) LOL.
Lo: YOU KNOW I LOVE DAVE (yeah, I'm saying it again)and you ain't saying NOTHING but the truth...if ANTHING I thought less of him in his movies, but when he came out with that show I said...Ahhhh....NOW WE'RE COOKING WITH GREASE! He's given this Country something to think, talk and get mad about...and I love him for that alone.
@Justmewriting: Ironically, I was also eating popcorn at the same time you were (surprised you didn't hear the crunching) and almost choked a couple of times myself!!
omg! thanks for posting this! this is by far the best one from the "when keeping it real goes wrong" segments. i was just talking about this! loves it!
