Alright DC. I will admit to this. I didn't just like MJ, I loved him. I remember my dad had an eight-track of Off the Wall. That was how it started for me. Thriller was the first vinyl record I owned, wore a hole in that.

dc_speaks said...

LOL@Dave!!!

ok since you opened the can...not only did I have a curl---but I had a "Beat it" Jacket.

shhhhhh

nikki, what'cha kno' about nascar?

Dave J. said...

You had the jacket!? I pleaded my case for years asking to get that, LOL. My mom would say "you already have a Micheal Jackson coat" referring to me having a couple pins of his album covers on my regular jacket... ;-(

Good times. ^^

Don't worry, your secret is safe with me.. (we got to stick together here).

I'm afraid the present has washed away the distant past when it comes to all of the MJ--like Michael Jackson, Michael Jordan. Oh how the mighty have fallen...

Sheletha said...

lance you didn't make any kind of point...just some unnessasary cussin' (im all for cussin, don't get it twisted, just not the unsolicitied variety) The only parents that would do that kind of stuff are the ones that are out for some legal action and cash...I think Mike even said "lemmee alooonnne!"

Sheletha said...

oh and "GO PISTONS"

Lance said...

hmmm, well...maybe i should say it like this.

based on his prior actions, mr. jackson has a disturbing psyche. not listening to others on the common sense grounds on dealing with innocent youths and exploitive parents. you would have thought he'd learned from his actions in '93 when he was first busted on his pedofile actions.....this is the same guy that thought YOU were some germ-inhabitant freak, but y'all still lovveeddd him. the same guy that when in trubble, run to the NAACP and do charitable events for BLACK FOLKS when in need, then turn his back on the same people that helped after he's off the hook? naaah, don't get me wrong. michael jackson was truly a great entertainer with the jackson 5, even solo with quincy jones on "off the wall" and "thriller" but today, he's just a BITCH ASS NIGGA!!!!!

how's that babycakes?

dc_speaks said...

lance, lance, lance...let me remind you of one good thing, brah. I was a Michael Jackson fan when he was younger and in the era of when he still looked normal.

Normal being relative to the planet earth standards with all the body part un or slightly altered.

In history thus far, I would be hard pressed to find anyone else that could match his musical talent. Composing, dancing, singing, and entertaining. His best days may be long gone, but his talent will be everlasting.

No, I don't think anyone should leave their children alone with any adult that isn't a responsible/trusted sitter...so that question is a no brainer.

Dude has major issues, but if our society didn't fall into making people like him(celebrities)into demi gods, then:
1. it wouldn't be an issue cause people wouldn't have allowed their kids to be their(common sense about letting your kid sleep in a bed with a stranger)
2. seeing his onscreen talent wouldn't automatically mean that he is mentally stable.

Seriously, how many child stars are in the news or have been in the news for MAJOR Problems in their adult lives? Damn near all of them.

I don't condone any of their actions, but you are getting waaaay too excited about one dude when in reality---most of them were victims of society pressure and experienced no childhood at all.

His pedophile actions are sickening, but his musical talent was the basis of me being his fan in th 80's and the reason that I used him for this post.

Peace and love, all!!

ever heard of james brown?

dc_speaks said...

yeah...I surely have.

Opinions are like butt holes, Lance. We all have them.

Sheletha said...

james brown is a different generation...but a great one nevertheless...

that was better lance, thank you.

Lance,
When I spread love for Michael, it's coming from memories of listening to Don't Stop 'Till You Get Enough and Rock With You while roller skating, holding hands with my little third grade girlfriend.

Staying up late to watch the world premier of the Thriller video, back when MTV still played videos. Making mix tapes on crappy cassette tapes that have already been recorded on ten times over, and devising a strategy of which songs I can sandwich P.Y.T. in between.

Got nothing to do with modern Michael, I don't even know who that is. He might as well actually be Weird Al for all I know.

Sheletha,
I can't believe you came up in here 7:30 this morning and rubbed in the Pistons victory. You are cold lady, cold. Oh, wait.. thats right,...

Pistons 79, Cavaliers 76

:)

p.s. aw see now, my karma is already getting back to me for that comment, the word verification keeps failing me now hah, maybe if I say the Cavs need love too, it will let me post, lets test it...

dc_speaks said...

the refs cheated...they didn't call a whole lot of fouls against the pistons.

LeBron was getting hacked and no calls.

Thanks, Dave!

Sheletha said...

thank you dave

Lance said...

clarify this for me d...

based on what you said about "in history thus far"...are you saying michael jackson is better than james brown?

as far as the generation gap, sheletha, james brown mainstay lasted from 60's to the 90's from that many groups were born with the funk sounds, like parliament/funkadelic, ohio players, bootsy collins, cameo, and many more and the birth of hip-hop originated from many of the beats that james brown composed. listen to eric b & rakim, public enemy, mc hammer even early 80 r&b groups like new edition and on, and on...

and that just black music...

throw in the beatles, rolling stones, the who, who've all publicly hailed james brown as their early inspirations musically.

the man not just inspired others, but transformed the modern music to what it is today. all you gotta do is listen.

Sheletha said...

spin offs dont count..

dc_speaks said...

@sheletha: hahahahaha, ur nuts!

I'm saying that MJ started in the 60's and isn't he still making music? doin his thing? didn't he compose, write, not too mention cross over into pop, rock r&b, and hip hop, revolutionize music videos?

too much to think about.

let's just agree to disagree on this one lance.

we both have good arguments.

James Brown is certainly a GREAT GREAT MAN IN MUSIC HISTORY!!

Lance said...

you kids, i tell ya....lol (;-P

Lance said...

by the way, d...what the hell was lebron thinking to kick the ball out for the trey when he was under the basket, with a guy hacking him when he could of easily tied the game, draw the foul for a two-shot deal?

dc_speaks said...

good question lance. LeBron was being fouled all game long and wasnt getting the call.

why not go for the win and with D Marshall hitting 6-10 in the last game...it was a pretty decent decision.

if thats the case, why didnt they call the foul anyway...it wasnt like he didnt get hacked even making the pass.

don't get me started....

Lance said...

yeah, d, you kno' my black ass gon start sum shit....

going for trey sounds okay if there was 1:00 to go to take the lead, but with 12 sec? if you tie the game, you force detroit to use another timeout that would have brought them to half-court. more than likely, as poor as both teams were shooting, tight dee would have probably brought them into overtime...

but we'll never know...

i look for cleveland to win the next one because of the sloppy play in this game...detroit is playing UGLY basketball now, how they even made it past chicago is a story itself.

Sheletha said...

haters always wanna fuss about rules

Lance said...

why you "hatin'" babycakes?....lol

Sheletha said...

im not hating..i honestly like both teams, just not when they play each other

nikki said...

lebron passed on the last shot. that looked like a punk move to me.

Lance said...

ohhhhh, uh-huh!
now i see...ummm, k...ummm, k

cleveland 85
detroit 77

the next game.

dc_speaks said...

good prediction, lance

Lo said...

"Babycakes"????? Lance, you called Sheletha "babycakes"??????

YOU MEAN THERE ARE OTHER "BABYCAKES"???

*silently seething...relieved that I have a man who doesn't call me babycakes*

Lance said...

awwwww, shit. here we go...i'm sorry, uhhh, babycakes..well, you see, uhhhh, i was just, uhhhh....

(;-P <=== the lanceman heading back to the dawg house!

dc_speaks said...

thats a darn shame, lance.

how do they get you to punk out like that?....LOL j/k, I would do the same thing.

i'm guilty of the "yes, dear" role.

do your thing, brah. I ain't mad atcha.

dc_speaks said...

@nikki: that was a calculated shot. They missed it.

If d marshall would have hit the shot. Cavs win. Great play!

Lance said...
