Monday Musings...part IV
It's Monday Musings time again. It's kind of short but I think that it pretty much speaks for itself.
Wow, It was a fantastic week off from the internet and much needed. I did have an opportunity to get tundreds of things done while preparing for a move.
Ok so here is my topic...Moving. I have moved plenty of times before and each time that I moved I felt like I left a peice of myself in each place. The nostalgia of going back to Columbus, Ohio or Milwaukee, Wisconsin is such a high for me that I can't even explain it. But here comes the dread...packing. I absolutely hate packing and find no entertainment or enjoyment out of the sound of tape screaming across boxes.
I suppose my biggest thought on the whole process is..is it normal to love moving, yet hate almost every aspect of preparing for the move? ie: putting stuff in a storage unit with no ventilation in about 110 degrees heat. Is the thrill of the new home superceding the dread of the packing for anyone else, or am I just a little bit off? LOL...hopefully I'm not off.
Who's up for Monday Musings query?

it's not monday yet, but so what?!lol! my favorite way to move is to sell EVERYthing (except for the VERY few items of sentimental value) then buy EVERYthing new on the other end. It's the GREATEST way to go! that's how i came from DC>NYC. I hate packing & un-packing!
I'm confused.
DC--where are you going?
I agree with capcity. When I moved into my apartment, I only took 5 things with me. All I had to do was wait for the rest to be delivered from stores. When I left the apartment, OMG! I couldn't believe how much I'd accumulated.
I hate moving, hopefully in the future I will be rich enough to pay someone to do everything for me.
Goodmorning brotha DC I hope life is going well for ya.
Welcome back my man! I'm with you on the moving thing. Now I just pay somebody to do it all! LOL
Where you going?
i am miserable when i move. i remember when i was in college, i moved 5 years straight. the idea of packing, moving furniture, and begging people to help makes me cringe! good luck to you where are you going!
Two Men & A Truck!...That's da way to go...they bring boxes, pack it all up for ya, move it & unpack it for ya! All you do is sign the check.
Personally, I hate moving. Not just the packing/unpacking. I spend alot of time getting my fueng-shui on, so once I get comfortable in a place, I don't want to leave & start all over again.
That's why I need to hurry up & get this money. Have vacation homes spread out around the country, that way I can still see the places I want to see and stil have the comforts of home.
Missed ya, homie!
moving sucks! but starting something new, in a new home or new city is the greatest reward in the world. An opportunity to start fresh and incorporate all the changes in you into your new surroundings, to take in the new things the place you in has to offer, to grow and embrace the next level of who you are meant to become. The act of moving will never be fun but moving symbolizes so much that you can't help but love it at the same time!
Moving sucks. The packing/unpacking.
You moving to Cali?
hey ya'll....no im not moving to cali, shai.
I'm still in cleveland. just with additions to the family.
bigger and better home.
Great to be back and feel missed a lil bit.
thanks for the love, fam.
Monica, I'll email you.
[In my best Sha-nay nay impression I say to you OMIGOODNESS] :-) lol
I totally feel you on the whole dreading to pack scenario. You never realize how much you have until it's time to move.
SIGH
Yeah...moving sucks so YOU'RE DEFINITELY NOT OFF IN THINKING THAT!!
BTW, Welcome back my brotha!!! I've been lurking and was goin' crazy lookin' at that potluck Friday post!!!
moving definitely sucks monkey balls (did i just say that out loud) well yes it sucks! but i think it'll be rewarding once you are in your home...you know...
when i first moved everything came from the stores, except for my clothes, now that i have all this stuff and HUGE furniture...I don't know what I'll do, definitely pay a professional moving company...
"is it normal to love moving, yet hate almost every aspect of preparing for the move?"
Heck yeah it's normal...it's like enjoying spending your paycheck but hating your job. lol
I WISH SOMEONE ELSE WILL MOVE LOL
I agree with Kiki --> "Two Men & a Truck" is the only way to move (on a budget) ... I imagine there are probably more upscale operations when benjamins aren't a worry.
peace, Villager
yep, hiating is good aint it
Cap, you're scaring me. I do the same thing when I move--shed all the weight I can from the belongings and get new stuff. It adds some reward to the whole act of changing home sites. The only thing that I will do differently in the future is pay a mover to handle the stuff I keep! Moving on Cali freeways can be a pain! Too many people cannot drive!
My SoCal Asians, keep your grandparents' car keys locked out of view!
Congrats on the new digs, man!
Do you want to read the last book of Harry Potter,
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows?
Ma ny people are saying the book is at the internet
see thislink
to know where....
Yeah, moving is the pits. I'm a little late with this, so if you're done. I hope it went well. If you're still doing it, I hope it goes well! Heave Ho!!
moving can be a fun experience/transition if you're properly prepared for it, but seeing as most people aren't even if they know they're moving. that's the part i hate because i invaribly am a helper in the process and can't stand the unpreparedness.
best wishes with your move and God bless
I hate the moving process....you know, the packing, hauling and unpacking of it all but I love living in fresh new places from time to time. I need change every now and then.
Like the caveman says on the Geico Commercial: I have one question: WHAT????????????? LOL
Ok, I couldn't resist!
We're military, we move about every 3 years. I LOOK FORWARD to purging and moving on. Then again, we have movers to all the packing and unpacking so, I guess this doesn't count as much huh? :)
