The Meta Effect

Books that talk about people writing books like Sex.Lies.Murder.Fame by Lolita Files or movies like Adaptation, a film that was supposed to be based on a novel by Susan Orlean, but ended up being a movie about a screenwriter (Charlie Kaufman) trying to write a movie about a book by Susan Orlean, seem to be a big part of pop culture and the entertainment world.

Apparently some fans take things quite literally as the Suspect who stabbed moviegoers in Fullerton at large has shown.

Hollywood is for entertainment, fam.

This is my Public Service Announcement.

Hollywood ain't solely for entertainment. It is also about things to come. I had a small short highlighted at Sundance years ago. You have to pay attention and not sleep. People are gullable and easily led. Absolutely. For most folk Holleywood is all about glamour and hot and sex. But look closer and spend osme time thinking about what is released...and why.

I am not a conspiratist by any means. But I do know about film making and the need to tell a story, and the need to get information to the masses...even if the masses are brain dead.

@lovebabz: i do realize that hollywood is for more than entertainment. i watched lots of biographies. lots of human interest stories.

you just go all over the place in your background don't ya?

conspiratist? where'd that come from? people arent exactly brain dead, they just believe what they were told by their parents. trust the police and the gov't. NOT!

There are folks out there who think there is a conspiracy around every corner...and I am not so sure they are wrong. However, I am not in their camp. And yes, my professional background is chock full of all sorts of things (film-maker, chef, politician, college professor, felon, etc).

What I mean by brain dead is this: few are willing to go beyond what is presented. Many will accept what is given to them. Films have a way of capturing the masses and holding them like no other forms of media. And few will call out the authenticity of a film or the filmakers for that matter.
